With the release of the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung committed to 7 years of software support for the lineup - that's both OS and security updates. Samsung wasn't the first - Google promised 7 years to the Pixel 8 series, but OnePlus believes anything beyond 5 years is just wasting resources. We had the chance to chat with Samsung VP Nicholas Porter and we asked him why Samsung decided on the 7 years of support. Samsung's analysis of consumer feedback found that extending the support adds more value to a smartphone. Certainly, enough value to make the overhead needed for the upkeep worth...
